I think you're on to something here. I can't reproduce the bug on the last
line of the window anymore, so removing the resize window clearly had some
effect.

However, other windows' tabs cause similar looking bugs.
Look at <http://basisti.tky.hut.fi/buggy2.xwd>. There is a one big rxvt
window, with another rxvt and Emacs slightly overlapping it. Now, if you
look to the left of the overlapping tabs, you see a bug ;)

I think next thing to do would be to have someone with more experience in
wmx shaped windows code (gee, who could I be referring to ;) check that
there are no obvious bugs in the shape code, and I could then file a bug
report to the XFree team. (I did it earlier, but they've apparently
ignored it, since I didn't get any pictures taken or whatever)
