Just as a point of [a] personal preference, and [b] UI design.
I love alt-tab for switching between windows, and while the shift- modifier
is often used to reverse effects (like your suggestion), I truly dispise
three-finger chords. I tend to set up meta-tab for the reverse cycling key.
Disadvantage is that you can't switch directions in the same set of
keystrokes. Anyways, so long as this kind of configurability is kept
somewhere that I can compile it in, I don't think I'd complain too much ;)
Or, a variant of hte idea... meta-tab to cycle the raised window, and
alt-tab to cycle the focused window. Keeping focuses and raised as two
independant functions...
