I agree. Better to leave that to another program altogether. What's
wrong with xclock, xdaliclock, or one of the many other such programs?
OTOH, if somebody does bother to code this, howsabout making it flexible?
I think it might be useful to have wmx insert _arbitrary_ text instead
of just the date & time. So for example, if wmx is going to insert the
text into a menu it could just run ~/.wmx/.periodic whenever button one
is pressed on the root window and insert the output into the top of the
menu. Or if wmx is going to insert the text into the active window's
title, it could run ~/.wmx/.periodic-<seconds> at every <seconds>
interval and append the output to the app's titlebar. Anyhow, you get
the picture -- I think something more flexible than just "insert the
time" would be of more general use to the wmx community.
